I love gift giving! In fact, I actually love it more than getting gifts! Picking out the perfect thing that will make the recipient's eyes go wide and their smile shine bright brings me so much joy! And I love to look for gifts all year long, not just when it's time. Anytime I see something that I know someone would love, I tend to grab it up and stash it in my gift cabinet.
So when my sister bought her first house a few years ago, of course the hunt was on for the perfect house-warming present. Before I hit the stores, I spent some time on Pinterest looking for some ideas to see what might jump out at me. I love scouring Pinterest for ideas and hints and then putting my own spin on them! During my search, I found that there was a tradition of giving some practical items with a meaning behind them in the hopes that you would bring the recipient some good luck. I ended up combining what I found and making my own Traditional Housewarming Basket.
Because my basket was unique to the ones that I found on Pinterest, I uploaded an original photo of it for others to use. Since then, it's been my most popular pin and has been saved over 500 times! I thought it was time to share it with you since Spring (and home buying season) has just arrived.
Traditional Housewarming Gift
- Bread-may you never go hungry
- Honey-may you enjoy the sweetness of life
- Candles-may you always have light in the darkness
- Wine-may you never go thirsty
- Olive Oil-may you be blessed with health and well-being
- Plants-may your home always have life
- Coins-may you receive luck and good fortune
- Salt-may you always have flavor and spice in your life
How sweet is that?! Everything is inexpensive (depending on the wine you choose) and readily available! Grab a pretty basket and you're ready to go! As you can see from the picture, I typed up the item guide and hung it on a cute frame that can then be re-used. If that's not your style, you could also write it on a simple card!
To make it even easier, I've included links to some of the products from Amazon (if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own). And as a special bonus, check out my printables page for a fun download of the product poem!
Impressive! Thanks for the article.
King regards,
